Food that I actually look FORWARD TO EATING!
There are two kinds of people in the healthy food eating world; the kind that think 'cauliflower pizza crust' tastes JUST LIKE OR BETTER than regular, fluffy, flour-y, pizza crust, and the people (like me) who think that is completely bonkers and are super sensitive to 'substitutions'. That being said... I bought this book along with the companion plan book after doing extensive research about the diet online. I normally am a highly skeptical person when I read diet reviews online because I feel like people have just deluded themselves into thinking that the food is good when it isn't :) However, I've been on Trim Healthy Mama for about 4 months now, and honestly, the only reason I have stuck to this way of eating (when I have failed miserably at many other diets ((I'M LOOKING AT YOU, PALEO)) ) is because I LOVE THE FOOD. And my husband loves the food. And my toddler who throws everything I give her on the ground, loves the food! Is every recipe in this book super awesome? No, I've made several that I immediately threw in the trash because I thought they were pretty gross. But there are plenty of recipes from loads of other cookbooks that I have made I didn't think were fit to eat, either. So let me tell you about our favorites... Chicken Parmy........ Ohemgee. Make it. Its so flipping good. We have this at least 3 times a month at our house and never have leftovers! Trim Zuppa Toscana.........Tastes pretty darn close to what you get at Olive Garden!! This is one of my person favorites from the book! Cheeseburger Pie.....my husband loves this...I mean, its meat and cheese and you can drown it in mustard and YUM. Banging Ranch Drums....drum sticks....and ranchiness...what more could you ask for?? Tuscany Egg Bake...I was REALLY skeptical about this one but it turned out to be one of my hands down favorite comfort meals! I could eat the whole pan! Thin Mint Chocolate Chip Shake...I make this ALL. THE. TIME. Easily 3x a week. I'm obsessed with mint chocolate chip ice cream and this hits the spot marvelously! Trimtastic Chocolate Cake...its yummy, yummy, rich chocolate cake. And the frosting tastes like fluffy chocolate milk. I could easily eat the whole thing by myself. Glosted Raspberry Muffins....muffins tops with cream cheese icing. I literally made myself sick one day because I ate 7 of these in one hour (yes 7!) We have a ton others! I definitely think this cookbook is a must if you are starting THM...it can really help you in the beginning to make sure you are eating what you are supposed to! I have lost the 15 pounds of baby weight from my second daughter that I have been carrying around and I haven't set foot in the gym once! I love eating this way...I didn't think I would but I was SO WRONG! I highly recommend it 1000000%!! Give it a try! You wont regret it!!

    Awesome cookbook. This cookbook was the beginning for me in putting the Trim Healthy Mama eating plan to work in my life. I have lost weight, sugar levels are returning to normal, and my overall health is improving daily. This is not a diet but a way of life. Eating healthy foods and having food freedom to be able to maintain this lifestyle without all the restrictions of diets. This cookbook is only the beginning. It helps to train you in food combinations for each fuel type your body needs. There are two methods of preparation, the purist for those who want to make everything from scratch, and the drive-by-sue's whose lifestyle may not afford the time to cook everything from scratch. The drive-by-sue's approach allow you to buy your products at Walmart, Kroger, etc. with or without any special ingredients. There are tips and hints on how to prepare these meals if you are on a tight budget. Once you begin to use the recipes you may want to checkout the many Trim Healthy Mama Facebook pages where there is a HUGE THM community to answer questions and offer new recipes at the same time. There are recipes in this book for those with food allergies and lots of recommendations on how to adjust the recipes for those allergies. I would recommend buying the Plan as well, simply because it explains all the scientific information behind this eating plan. THIS IS NOT A DIET! This is an alternative way of eating that will rid your body of toxins and inflammation that come from eating the processed foods (frankenfood) so many of us have eaten because we thought we were eating healthy. Every type of diet is very restrictive of the foods you can eat and before long you are sick of all the restrictions and quit. Weight or bad health returns. This is a way of eating for the long haul. At first some of the recipes seem so different than what most of us are used to. However, many folks on the Facebook pages report that when they choose to eat one of the other foods they usually find it doesn't taste the same or it makes them feel bad. This is because their body is now healthy enough to know when an offending food is eaten. This review is my own experience. I bought the books at full price. I have done Atkins, Keto, Paleo, Caveman Paleo and while I might have been eating okay, I was not losing weight or my sugar levels were not going down. I still use some Keto and Paleo recipes that fall in line with the plan for losing weight. This is the great thing about this program. It is about finding out what your body needs and the freedom to feed it the food that makes it healthy and a trim healthy person. Yes, we have men now following this plan, and teenagers who are tired of being obese and want to feed themselves healthy foods. I for one will never turn back. Cooking is a joy and I love being able to see the pounds fall off. Yes you can eat chocolate cake for breakfast! The recipe is in the cookbook. You can literally have your cake and eat it too as you watch the pounds melt away. You will use ingredients that are healthy and taste yummy at the same time. Many of the single serve cakes can be made in the microwave or baked in the oven. Your choice. That is best thing about this way of eating, the choice is yours to make! It is work to change old habits, but before long it is second nature and your are on your way to a new healthy you.

    Where do I start? I have several issues going on. I’m a mature Mama, with PCOS, fatty liver disease, hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, hormone issues, high inflammation and, as a direct result of all of these… obesity. I have struggled for years trying to find the right doctor to help me with these issues only to be told by some that I would have to live with it. I finally found a couple of them that identified my health problems, but I haven’t been able to lose any weight until I was on Metformin. That really didn’t help because I was sick all the time from the side effects. It was horrible and noticeable from a work standpoint because I was out sick a lot. I’ve gotten off the meds only to find that I’m slowly putting back on the forty pounds I lost.
    My journey into unhealthy obesity began around 2003, when I noticed that I was gaining weight while I was on a doctor’s supervised diet. I had already lost about 70-80 pounds, but now the reverse was happening, even though I was still following the diet. Then the weight came on fast, crazy fast and even my doctor didn’t know what the heck was going on at my weekly weigh-ins! It was four years later, when other health symptoms cropped up, that I found out I had an overload of estrogen which put almost 100 pounds on me in less than a year, also resulting in surgery to stop the estrogen influx. At this point, hormone therapy alone wouldn’t have helped. Fast forward to November, 2015. I have tried everything under the sun to feel better, except gastric bypass or the sleeve. That’s because overeating isn’t my issue. I’m tired of friends, family and coworkers asking me (nicely) why I’m over weight when they see that I eat good foods and normal portions. Their concerned questions and feelings of hopelessness really made me want to cry. Then I stumbled onto THM. I can’t even remember how I came across the books. I read the reviews, looked at their website and read all of the testimonials. Several of the women have at least two or more of each of my symptoms covering pretty much all of my issues. I figured this might be worth the “one more try” I have left in me, so I ordered the books. They sat around for almost two months while I tried to find time to read the plan. My son also has some weight to lose and prodded me to read the books (if not for me, then for him). I got about half way through the Plan book, starting sifting through the cookbook recipes and then for convenience sake ordered THM products from their website. Fast forward to today, February 10, 2016. I’ve been on THM since January 11, 2016, so it’s been a month, but not a solid month because we’ve had to integrate it into our daily routines and menu. I’m not a drive thru Sue, but I do get good foods to go and my husband did a lot of the home cooking. I had no energy to get through my usual work day and I would be exhausted by the time I got home. Brain fog was an everyday occurrence, I was bloated all the time, had pains, etc. – and that’s even after cutting out/down on rice, breads and pasta (I don’t like potatoes so not a problem there). THM’s program of food combining makes sense to me. The recipes are delicious and quick. I love my crockpot meals, simple, convenient and delicious (more please)! My son helps me cook and likes to be involved in the meal planning. He keeps me motivated by helping a lot. Plus, he’s slimming down fast! He’s down about 10 pounds and losing his tummy, I’m down 9, and what I can also tell you is that my clothes are looser (even my shoes). The food doesn’t hurt my inflammation, it usually feels like my fat is on fire after I eat and I haven’t had any of that since being on this plan. I love that I can make my cake AND eat it too! So many good things on this plan. Love the Shrinker (drink it every day!) as well as GGMS (I just call it Moonshine for my son’s sake). I’m more than hopeful that I’m finally on the path to good health! I have had more energy and feel better than I have in a long time. I’ve also notice that I’ve been happier and not complaining about aches and pains. And my very picky husband has liked the foods as well. He’s been having a meal with us here and there, and looks forward to pot roast night. I’ve given taste tests to my friends, family and coworkers. I’m sure they’ll all be following the plan soon enough. Gosh, I’m so looking forward to trying the pancakes. Love them, but haven’t been able to eat them for so long because of the inflammation and bloat. Well not anymore! Saturday I’m going to have them for breakfast! Thank you Pearl and Serene! So many people have different views about food and healthy eating and I felt like this one had a great perspective that I hadn’t heard much of before to add to that body of knowledge. Definitely love the ideas and tone of this book. Some good common sense in this book.

    I'm def. not a diet person, but bought this book and the first (and 3rd) one. This isn't a diet but a way of life and it is actually managable. This book has pic's (which the first one doesn't), and a lot of good for the whole family recipes. They seem to always add new ingredients to the THM way off life which may take a little getting used to, but why would one want to stay stagnant. The index is a bit of a pain, and I understand that sometimes the writing style can be a bit annoying to some, but it's an easy read if you're tired from a long day. Overall, definately worth it.

    I have already reviewed the new THM plan book and loved it! It was responsible for my weight loss of 51 lbs so far in 9 months.

    I already had the original book which had a huge recipe section in it and I was a heavy user of pinterest to gather up recipes to try. I wasn't too bothered about this new recipe book as I had my on plan eating sorted. However, the Facebook groups for THM started to fill with people commenting on the new recipe book and sharing photos of the meals they had made and I wanted some of that too!

    The recipes in this book are excellent, a real mix of classics from the original book and new recipes. The recipes have also been tweaked and refined since the first book and any issues with them have been resolved. As this is a healthy eating plan, many of the recipes call for what is known as 'special ingredients' like collagen and gluccomannan which are chosen for their health benefits, but there are also many that are labelled as 'NSI' no special ingredients.

    If you are following the plan and want an easy way to plan meals then this is a great choice. Use this book when you are first starting or when you are stuck for ideas and you will have step by step how to make meals that you know fit the meal categories.

    This is a great book and I will be buying it in hard back as well as this kindle copy soon.
