Keto Lo Mein – Just Like Takout!

Making Keto Lo Mein is simple! With some chopping, frying, and tossing, you'll have a veggie and protein-packed lo mein that is ketogenic and a takeout copycat right in your kitchen.
Lo Mein is a chinese takeout staple. It is inexpensive to make, fast, and simple for most takeout joints. And we all love it!
I've made a copycat Keto Lo Mein recipe, but the beautiful part about it isn't the recipe – it's the flexibility to make it your own!
I shared a picture of me eating this for lunch on Instagram and Facebook, and you all were SO excited for the recipe so I moved it up on the list!
Sure, I've given you measurements and instructions for the sauce, vegetables, and noodles (yep, keto noodles!), but you can always adjust the ingredients to your liking or to what you have on hand.
Let's break down what takeout lo mein is usually made of, along with their ketogenic and whole30/paleo substitutes:
Lo Mein Noodles —> Kelp, Konjac, or Shirataki Noodles, and/or cabbage
Soy Sauce —>> Coconut Aminos
Sugar —->> Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener, Swerve, or any other stevia or monkfruit sweetener
Oyster Sauce —>> This is a personal choice. Probably not Whole30, and we don't have a good substitute for it yet! (If you have one, please leave me a comment and let me know!)

For The Sauce:
Coconut Aminos
Lakanto Confectioner's Sweetener {sweeten to preference}
For The Lo Mein
Cole slaw mix, approx 12 ounces
Noodles of choice {kelp, shirataki, or konjac}
Thinly sliced bell pepper {I used yellow, orange, and red}
Thinly sliced onion
Chopped Green Onion
Sesame Oil, for frying
Chopped Chicken

Keto Lo Mein {Just like takeout!}
Making Keto Lo Mein is simple! With some chopping, frying, and tossing, you'll have a veggie and protein-packed lo mein that is ketogenic and a takeout copycat right in your kitchen.
Ingredients
- For The Sauce:
- 1/2 cup Coconut Aminos
- 1 -2 Tbsp. Lakanto Confectioner's Sweetener {sweetener to preference}
- For The Lo Mein
- 1 package Cole slaw mix, approx 12 ounces
- 2 packages noodles of choice {kelp, shirataki, or konjac}
- 1 cup thinly sliced bell pepper {I used yellow, orange, and red}
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced onion
- 1/4 cup chopped Green Onion
- Sesame Oil, for frying
- 2 cups Chopped Chicken
Instructions
- First, make the sauce by shaking both ingredients together in a jar. Set aside.
- Drain and rinse your noodles according to the package directions. Rinse well and set aside.
- In a large wok, heat 2-3 Tbsp of the Sesame Oil. Add the onions, peppers, and cole slaw mix to the pan and stir fry about 5 minutes, until they are fork tender.
- Add half the sauce to the wok with the vegetables and toss to combine. Add in the noodles and chicken, then stir fry another 5 minutes. Take the stir fry off the heat, add the rest of the sauce, and serve.

This recipe sounds delicious! I just want to make you aware that cooking with sesame oil is not recommended. They recommend adding at the end of whatever you are cooking because it has a very low smoke point. Meaning, it can get rancid or toxic very fast. But other than that, canāt wait to try this! š
