A delicious, classic dessert made low carb, Keto Boston Cream Pie uses moist yellow cake, and an unbelievably easy custard filling, and chocolate ganache.
Keto Boston Cream Pie
There are few classic that can please a crowd like a Boston Cream Pie.
It it great prepared beforehand, stores well, and the custard filling is SO GOOD.
I've been wanting to create a Keto Boston Cream Pie for a while, but I've been way to busy to do so with homeschool, weightlifting, keeping the house together, and then canning/preserving.
But this week I finally had time.
And thank goodness too, because I've got CRAVINGS.
Ingredients for Keto Boston Cream Pie
For the Cake:
Before I give you the ingredients, bear in mind that if you need an easier cake solution than baking from scratch, pick up one of these keto cake mixes:
- BirchBenders Yellow Cake Mix (can be found at Walmart or Amazon)
- Good Dee's Yellow Snack Cake (my personal favorite)

Almond Flour
Coconut Flour
Baking Powder
Sea Salt
Butter, melted

For the Custard Filling:
Eggs
Egg Yolks
Heavy Cream

How To Make Keto Boston Cream Pie
Preheat oven to 350. Grease 2 round pans, place circular parchment in the bottom if desired, and set aside.
Cream together wet cake ingredients. In a separate bowl mix dry ingredients, then add dry to wet mixing until cohesive.
Pour into prepared pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely before removing from the pan.
To Make Custard:
Cream together ingredients and pour into greased 9×9 pan. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes, until mostly set and top is just starting to brown.
Let cool completely then scoop into blender and blend until smooth.
To Make Ganache:
Wait until your Keto Boston Cream pie is completely assembled before making ganach:
In a double boiler, stir together chocolate chips, sweetener, and heavy cream. Continue stirring until ganache is smooth and cohesive.
To assemble:
Slice your cooled yellow cake in half thickness-wise and separate the halves.
Pour the custard on top, spread evenly, and place the top of the cake on top. Place in the refrigerator to set for 1 hour.
When the cake is set, make the ganache. Remove from the heat, let cool 2-3 minutes, then smooth over the top of the Boston Cream Pie.
Let set in the refrigerator at least 10 minutes before serving.

Ingredients
- For The Cake (see notes for mix alternatives)
- 1.5 cups Almond Flour
- 1/4 cup Coconut Flour
- 3 tsp. Baking Powder
- 1/4 tsp. Sea Salt
- 1.5 sticks (3/4 cup) butter, melted
- 4 Eggs
- 2 Egg Whites
- 1/2 cup Almond Milk OR Heavy Cream
- 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Lakanto Baking Sweetner or Allulose
- For the Custard Filling:
- 2 Eggs
- 2 Egg Yolks
- 2 Cups Heavy Cream
- 1/2 cup Allulose
- 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
- Pinch Sea Salt
- For The Chocolate Ganache:
- 1/2 cup Lily's Milk Chocolate Chips
- 2 Tbsp. Lakanto Baking Sweetener
- 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
