Top on the list are some less traditional low-carb veggies:
- turnips
- rutabaga
- green beans
- eggplant
- cabbage
- brussels sprouts
- mushrooms
- radishes
- jicama
- spaghetti squash
Are Turnip Fries Keto?
Turnips have 6.5 net carbs per medium turnip root, which definitely falls in the low carb end of the spectrum.
It's up to you if they fit into your ketogenic diet or not.
But they definitely are paleo, gluten free, grain free, and can also be dairy free depending upon how you make them.
Making Turnip Fries in the Air Fryer
Ever since I bought my Ninja Foodie Toaster Oven for RV cooking, I've fallen in love with air fryer cooking.
It cooks evenly without heating up the house or running up the energy bill.
It also preheats in less than 1 minute, cooks vegetables evenly, and with less fat than traditional roasting. (Normally fat isn't something I shy away from, but there are times when I cut dietary fat down to use body fat!)
Ingredients for Low Carb Turnip Fries
I've made several different versions of turnip fries, all of which have turned out fantastically:
Parmesan Garlic Turnip Fries
- Parmesan
- garlic
- salt
- pepper
- onion powder
Spicy Turnip Fries
- garlic
- salt
- paprika
- onion powder
Ranch Turnip Fries
- parsley
- dill
- onion powder
- garlic powder
- salt
- pepper
Basically no matter how I prepare low carb turnip fries, I like to pair them with Keto Chick Fil A Sauce OR Keto Fry Sauce
